Housing – Steamboat Housing Opportunities

The Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation maintains employee housing in two bedroom/two bath units located approximately one mile from the base area. These units are fully furnished, down to the pots and pans; you only need to bring linens, towels and any entertainment components (a tv is provided for each unit).

Rent is based on 2 people per room
(total of 4 occupants in one unit)

Winter Rates 2009/2010

$355/person/month including utilities and local phone connection.
$300 damage deposit required per person.

*Please note that due to speculated increases in heating and electricity costs, surcharges may apply for the 2009/2010 winter season.

As space is limited, housing is awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis and we assign two individuals per bedroom.

The local Steamboat Springs Transit operates on a regular schedule through the employee housing area to transport you to town or any of the shopping facilities - and it's free!

How to apply for Employee Housing
After your application for employment has been initially approved, reserving a spot in employee housing is simple. You will have the opportunity to submit your housing application and pay your deposit to guarantee yourself a spot. After your deposit and completed application have been accepted you will be notified of your reservation and you can rest easy knowing you will have a place to stay when you arrive in Steamboat Springs.

If you are interested in reserving a spot in employee housing you must:

Be offered a full time position with SSRC.
Complete and return the Employee Housing Reservation Form to SSRC Housing.
Fax: (970) 871-5140.
Submit your deposit to SSRC. If using a credit card you will need to provide a copy of the front and back of your credit card and fill out a credit card authorization form.

H2B Applicants: Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation is no longer accepting applications, resumes or CV's for H2B Visas for the positions of Housekeepers, Line Cooks & Lift Operators.

Ski & Ride School H2B Applicants: The Ski & Ride School is currently delayed in the process of petitioning for Children's Ski Instructors and Certified Ski & Snowboard Instructors Level I, II, & III. Please check back for updated information.

H2B VISA APPLICANTS

General information about our H2B program is listed below:

Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation sponsors non-U.S. citizens for a work visa (H-2B) to allow them to work for our company in winter seasonal, entry-level positions. At this time, we do not sponsor H-2B visas for summer operations.
An H-2B Visa is for non-agricultural seasonal, temporary work.
H-2B Visas are job specific. If you are hired into one of these positions you cannot change positions during the season.
H-2B Visas are company specific. If approved, you can only work for Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation.
H-2B Visas are time specific (valid for one winter season only).
H-2B Visas are subject to approval by the Colorado Department of Labor, the United States Department of Labor, the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service and the United States Consulates.
An H-2B worker may be granted extensions to their H-2B visa, each requiring a new labor certification and INS petition, but the maximum stay cannot exceed three years. Any non-U.S. citizen who has held a H-2B status for three years is barred from another H-2B status until he/she has remained outside of the U.S. for an uninterrupted period of six months.
You must leave the country by the date specified on the I-94 Card. There is no "grace period".
If your employment is terminated with SSRC before the end of the season, your H-2B visa is no longer valid and you have 10 days to leave the country. At that time, SSRC, Inc. notifies the U.S. Immigration & Naturalization Service that you are no longer working for SSRC.

J-1 VISA APPLICANTS

J-1 visa applicants must be able to meet our seasonal commitment date from November 26, 2009– April 11, 2010. Each position has slightly different commitment dates.
In order to be eligible for a J-1 visa you must be a current student between the ages of 19 and 30, or have graduated from University within the last 6 months or be in a deferred status.
SSRC currently works with only a few sponsoring agencies. These agencies usually charge a fee for their services. We recommend contacting an agency if you wish to obtain a J-1 visa. SSRC is not a sponsoring agency for J-1 visas. For winter employment, you can also apply over the website for any open position. If you are hired, the hiring manager can give you a job offer letter to take to your sponsoring agency. This is commonly referred to by sponsoring agencies as the Independent Work & Travel program.
